How hot is it?

Apparently, it's hot enough in Tucson so that when Alden went to go sliding on the park slide at 10 in the MORNING in mid-May, he got a second degree burn on his hand holding onto the side of the slide. He began at the top of the slide, and as he started down, the metal handles on the side started to burn his hand, he panicked, rolled on his tummy trying to get back to the top, and held on with one hand so he wouldn't go further down the slide. His hand was burned in the time it took Christa to set baby Isaac down and get to Alden (maybe 10-15 seconds). There are three blisters on the palm of his hand, each almost an inch long, and one on each finger tip. We lanced them tonight, and he took it well ("Look Alden, you can make water come out of your hand!"). Still, we won't go to any park with metal slides for a long, long time.

This picture and similar text went to my councilwoman.

Indiana looks better all the time.

Thank you Qwest...

Kudos to Qwest for not handing over my phone records to the National Security Agency. I never thought my phone company had ethics (maybe they just didn't want to have to do the work), but apparently they asked the NSA for a warrent before they handed over my phone records. None of my calls have been to terrorists, for the record. When the NSA refused to provide a warrant, Qwest refused to hand over the records. Anyway, that's how warrants used to work.

Now, I just wish they wouldn't sell my phone number to marketing firms.
